Communication Studies Undergraduate Scholarship Recipients

Eunice and Ed J. Pappas Endowed Scholarship for Excellence in Communication: Catherine Latham

This scholarship was created in honor of Dr. Edward J. Pappas, chair of the Department of Communication from 1973-1990 and Eunice Pappas, Ed's wife and long-time employee of Wayne State University.

"I am beyond honored and grateful to be the recipient of the Eunice and Ed J. Pappas Endowed Scholarship for Excellence in Communication. Receiving this scholarship will help greatly in relieving the financial obligation of my senior year at Wayne State. As a public relations major and political science minor, I hope to obtain an additional internship during the academic year that relates to event planning or a political campaign. I am also the newly elected president of Wayne State's Campus Activities Team and couldn't be more thrilled to carry out this position during my final year at Wayne State. I am so grateful and proud to be a Warrior and couldn't have chosen a better university to complete my higher education."

Jane Fitzgibbon Endowed Student Award in the Area of Communication Studies: Anna Blanchet

This scholarship, established by Dr. Jane Fitzgibbon, faculty member in the Department of Communication, recognizes scholastic achievement, encourages continued progress, and provides financial assistance to students financing their education in the Department of Communication.

"This award means the world to me. It helps me be able to spend more time pursuing my goals of higher education and it also serves as encouragement for me to continue being dedicated to my classwork. This scholarship has helped show me that hard work does pay off because when you are doing your best, doors and opportunities that you may not have known about open before you. I am currently pursuing internships for my upcoming senior year and plan to graduate in Spring of 2021."

E. Ray Skinner Scholarship Fund for Communication: Emily Roberts and Brayan Gutierrez

This scholarship recognizes scholastic achievement, encourages continued progress, and provides financial assistance to students financing their education in the Department of Communication.

Plochocki Endowed Scholarship in Communication: Taylor Nondorf

"It is an absolute honor to receive this scholarship. This motivates me to keep creating and working towards my storytelling goal. Filmmaking is a great passion of mine and it means so much to be acknowledged for what I have been trying to achieve. Again, I am very grateful to be the recipient of this scholarship.
