Biography

Kaitlyn Coons (she/her) is a first year PhD student and currently serves as a graduate teaching assistant in the Department of Communication at Wayne State University. Prior to Wayne State University, Kaitlyn was an adjunct instructor at Grand Valley State University and Grand Rapids Community College focused in Communication based courses after the completion of her master's degree.

Kaitlyn completed her bachelor's degree in Recreation, Parks, and Leisure Services and master's degree in Communication at Central Michigan University. During her MA, she focused her research on how college students manage uncertainty regarding their food allergies on a college campus. She was also a graduate teaching assistant during her master's program as well.

Her research interests include health communication, risk and crisis communication, and conflict communication. She is primiarily a qualitative scholar and focused in interpersonal communication.
