Muhammad Aminul Islam

Biography

Muhammad Aminul Islam is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Communication at Wayne State University. His research interests include journalism practices, media effects, media and minorities, and media and crisis and risk communication. Aminul brings over 20 years of journalism experience to his academic work, having served in leadership roles such as Business Editor and Joint News Editor for New Age, a national newspaper in Bangladesh. He worked as a reporter covering a wide range of issues, including politics, education, public policy, energy, telecommunications, economy, and business. His investigative reporting has provided in-depth analyses of critical topics, influencing public discourse and policy development in Bangladesh. His academic focus builds on his professional experience, examining media framing, agenda-setting, and the representation of minority narratives. His work also explores communication strategies during public health crises and other emergencies. His publications have appeared in journals including Frontiers in Public Health and Society and Business Review.

Aminul holds an M.S.S. and B.A. in Mass Communication and Journalism from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
