Biography
Nina is a Ph.D. student and Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Communication, and is pursuing the dual-title degree in Communication and Urban Sustainability. She has been a practicing urban/regional planner for over 15 years and, in addition to taking classes and teaching, she consults on a project basis with an architecture, engineering, and planning firm in Detroit. Nina conducts research that bridges the communication and planning disciplines, and areas of interest include public meetings, political participation, community engagement, climate-related communication, and civic journalism.
Nina earned her Master’s in Urban Planning (MUP) from Wayne State University in 2008, and her BA in Interdisciplinary Social Science from Michigan State University in 2003.
