Old Newsboys' Goodfellow Fund of Detroit working towards goal of $1.2M
As of Tuesday, the Old Newsboys' Goodfellow Fund of Detroit had raised $462,192.75 representing 38 percent of its 2012 fundraising goal of $1.2 million, which the group hopes to meet by the end of its fiscal year on January 31, 2012. Founded in 1914, the Detroit Goodfellows sponsors an emergency dental program for children, awards scholarships through Wayne State University, provides free shoes to children in need and helps send hundreds of needy children to camp each summer.

Goodfellows set to help needy kids again with annual newspaper sale Monday
Hundreds of Detroit Goodfellows, police officers and firefighters will sell a special Goodfellow edition of the Free Press and the Detroit News on Monday in various locations throughout the city. It's part of the annual Old Newsboys' Goodfellow Fund of Detroit sales day and parade. It is noted that the Goodfellows also award scholarships through Wayne State University.

Detroit Goodfelllows fundraise for needy children Nov. 26
Members of the Old Newsboys' Goodfellow Fund of Detroit take to the streets of Detroit once again for the group's 98th Sales Day & Parade on Monday, Nov. 26 starting at 5:30 a.m.
Hundreds of Detroit Goodfellows and Detroit police officers will sell a special "Goodfellow edition" of the Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News in various locations throughout Detroit. Newspapers are sold for any donation and all money raised goes toward the Detroit Goodfellows' 2012 fundraising goal of $1.2 million to provide Goodfellow holiday gift packages to 36,000 needy Detroit area children aged 4-13. Previous sales days raised more than $100,000. The Detroit Goodfellows also sponsors journalism scholarships at Wayne State University.
