"Read AMC 'Low Winter Sun' actor Ruben Santiago-Hudson's passionate ode to Detroit, its people"
by Eric Lacy

Actor Ruben Santiago-Hudson, a cast member of AMC's Detroit-themed police drama Low Winter Sun, made it clear Monday night that he's got plenty of love for The D. Santiago-Hudson, a 56-year-old Wayne State University alum, drew a round of applause during a preview event of the show's first episode when he delivered his unprovoked defense of the Motor City and its people. Santiago-Hudson also told the crowd he expected to speak at Wayne State when he's in Detroit for more work, and practically guaranteed that Low Winter Sun will be a show that's good enough to earn a second season from AMC.

RELATED NOTE: Low Winter Sun debuts on cable's AMC network at 10pm Eastern on Sunday, August 11, 2013. The series' opening titles sequence, below, was filmed in Detroit by Professor Marc Ruiz of Wayne State's media arts and studies program. "AMC contracted two time Academy Award winner, Angus Wall, to produce the series' opening sequence and Angus thought my visual style meshed with his needs," said Prof. Ruiz. "I was honored to receive his call. I took two days with a small crew and shot the various Detroit elements."
