A WXYZ-TV "Detroit 2020" segment featured an interview with Wayne State University professor Hayg Oshagan, who also is director of the New Michigan Media (NMM) partnership. NMM is the network of ethnic and minority media which strives to enhance Michigan's more than 140 ethnic and minority media outlets.

Wayne State University professor Hayg Oshagan, director of New Michigan Media, talked about efforts of the organization to find connections, offer stories about one another, cross publishing editorials and bridge the gap between different cultures. Media that have partnered in the New Michigan Media group include representatives from the Latino, Arab, African American and Korean communities, to name a few.
