"Young Detroiters support inner city kids: Making a difference through music"
by Derick Hutchinson and Rhonda Walker

Media arts and studies major Darius Jackson, percussion student Joshua McTerry and Curtis Mason, all former members of the marching band drum line at Detroit's Cooley High School, believed they could teach music to middle school and high school students in Detroit, and along the way teach life skills as well. They formed the non-profit fine arts organization called STICK (Supporting the Inner City Kids) which offers after-school programs in dance, creative writing, instrumental music and percussion. The trio teaches five days a week at three elementary, middle and high schools in Detroit.
