Northville man's simple act of selflessness
by Marney Rich Keenan
James Sholtz, 30, wasn't looking for any attention. When two of his regular diners from Rocky's of Northville, where he waits tables on weekends, found out he was conducting a food and clothing drive for the poor to honor his grandfather, they called this newspaper. He set up a Facebook page, The Fred Millard Foundation, and donations started coming in from his co-workers at the restaurant, fellow students at Wayne State University, where Sholtz is pursuing a master's degree, and clients from his small video production company, Ascend Multimedia. On Friday, Sholtz and his mother will be delivering the donated clothes, food and toys to the Western Wayne County Alano Club, the Wayne County Association for Retarded Citizens and several homeless shelters in downtown Detroit.
