Journalism scholarship deadline extended

The deadline has been extended for the $5,000 Robert McGruder Scholarship program for students interested in majoring in journalism at Wayne State. Named for the first African-American executive editor at the Detroit Free Press who died in 2002 after battling cancer, the scholarship is open to 2009 high school graduates who are admitted to the Journalism Institute for Media Diversity\'s Learning Community. A 1,000-word essay, writing samples, resume, recommendations and transcript are due with the application by Feb. 16. For more information, anails@wayne.edu or 313-577-6304.
