Ruth Cain, Grosse Pointe News columnist, media trailblazer, dies at 87

Trailblazer communicator Ruth Cain died Saturday, Nov. 19 at Grosse Pointe's Beaumont Hospital of heart failure. She was 87. Mrs. Cain, a 1945 Wayne State University graduate, worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan in the media relations department for more than two decades. She also spent many years as a journalist, writing for Associated Press, Detroit Free Press, Business Week and also as a columnist at The Macomb Daily and The Oakland Press. Memorial arrangements were pending at time of publication. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Wayne State's journalism program, 902 West Warren Ave, Room 557, Detroit, MI 48201.
