Department of Communication is accepting applications into part-time faculty hiring pools

The Department of Communication at Wayne State University is accepting applications for inclusion in part-time faculty hiring pools for the coming Fall and Winter terms in the following areas: public speaking, communication studies, film, journalism, media arts and studies, and public relations.

Part-time faculty generally teach one course and occasionally two courses per semester. Part-time faculty are responsible for preparing course syllabi in conjunction with the full-time faculty and area heads, instructing students during the course hours, evaluating student work including university requirements for mid-semester evaluations in many classes, preparing and administering examinations and holding office hours on a regular basis.

To be eligible for consideration, a candidate should possess a master's degree in communication and have some teaching experience. Candidates should submit an electronic portfolio including: a letter of application, curriculum vita, hours of availability for teaching, and evidence of teaching effectiveness, including a short statement of teaching philosophy of not more than one page in length (preferably as a single PDF file). The letter of application must identify the hiring pool or pools being applied for (see the "Course Pools" link below).
