Department of Communication accepting applications into part-time faculty hiring pools

The Department of Communication at Wayne State University is accepting applications for inclusion in part-time faculty hiring pools for the coming Fall, Winter and Spring/Summer terms in the following areas: public speaking, communication studies, film, journalism, media arts and studies, and public relations.

Part-time faculty generally teach one course and occasionally two courses per semester. In conjunction with program coordinators and other full-time faculty, part-time faculty are responsible for preparing course syllabi and instructing students during a term. In addition, part-time faculty evaluate student work that includes university requirements for mid-semester grades, preparing and administering examinations, submitting final grades and holding office hours on a regular basis.

To be eligible for consideration, a candidate should possess a master's degree in communication and related fields with some college teaching experience. Candidates should submit an electronic portfolio including: a letter of application, curriculum vitae, hours of availability for teaching, and evidence of teaching effectiveness, including a short statement of teaching philosophy of not more than one page in length (preferably as a single PDF file). The letter of application must identify the hiring pool or pools being applied for (see the "Course Pools" link below). Wayne State University is an Affirmative Action/Equal Employment Opportunity Employer. Minorities and women are encouraged to apply.
