by Julie Hinds

One of the female directors in the spotlight at the Sundance Film Festival is Stacie Passon, a Wayne State University graduate. She wrote and helmed Concussion, a contender for best U.S. drama honors. Passon says her Sundance acceptance came as a happy surprise. It's one of 16 movies chosen from more than 1,200 submissions, according to the Los Angeles Times. It's Passon's first feature film and her first Sundance festival. "It's my first anything," she jokes.
