Filmmaker Erica Watson, who is a 2011 graduate of Wayne State music, finished her master's degree in film this month at USC where she lives and runs her company Hyphenation Nation Productions. Her newest film Roubado, which she wrote and directed, debuts May 19 in L.A.

Erica Watson wrote and directed the 2012 film Embryo which was selected for exhibition in the Short Film Corner at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. It was not Watson's first invitation to the world's most prestigious film fest. Her 2011 film The Majestic Palm was exhibited at Cannes in 2012, her 2010 short film Brothers was shown at Cannes in 2011 and one of her earliest works, the 2007 short documentary Slam, was exhibited at Cannes in 2009.
