Receiving Assistance
By Appointment: Half hour appointments can be made with the Center staff by emailing the Center at psrc@wayne.edu at least three calendar days in advance, or stopping by the Center in person during normal operating hours. In your email include 3 possible specific dates and times you are available to meet and someone from the Center will email you a confirmation of your meeting time. Those who are 10+ minutes late lose their appointment and may come late to the Center as a walk-in. For those who are visiting the center to record a speech it is best that they make an appointment.
Walk-Ins: Students are welcome to stop by the Center anytime during the hours of operation. Students will be seen on a first come, first served basis with the understanding that scheduled appointments will be seen before those who walk in.
Necessary Materials
When coming to the Center have a plan. Spend a little time thinking about what you want and need to get out of your visit. Generate a list of questions or objectives for your meeting. Always bring any materials (course supplement, additional instructor guidelines not listed in supplement, etc) that pertain to the speech. If referred by your instructor, please bring your instructor referral form. It will also be helpful to bring drafts of your preparation outline, list of possible topics and main points, and a works cited list of any research you have already conducted.
For Instructors
The Center encourages instructors to refer their students to us for assistance. Please fill out this form and have the student bring it with them to their appointment so that the director knows what areas you feel your student requires assistance in. Also, please encourage your student to make an appointment to ensure that they get the help they need before the next assignment is due. Contact the PSRC (psrc@wayne.edu) or Sandy Pensoneau-Conway (sandyp@wayne.edu) with any questions.
