MovingMedia Student Film Festival Now Accepting Submissions

Wayne State University is excited to announce its annual MovingMedia Student Film Festival is just around the corner. For years, the MovingMedia Film Festival has served as a dynamic showcase of creative and diverse student works, and interested applicants are invited to submit a project for a chance to win a wide variety of prizes, including an all-access pass to the Detroit FIlm Theatre during the weekend festival.

Overview:

Now entering its sixteenth year, Wayne State's MovingMedia Student Film Festival is presented by Freep Film Festival and takes place March 31-April 3, 2016, along with the festival's Academy, a daylong filmmaking workshop April 1.

"Finding smart audiences and good venues is tough for young film makers," said Dr. Lee Wilkins, chair of the Department of Communication at Wayne State University. "That's why our MovingMedia Student Film Festival is so excited to be working in cooperation with Freep Film Fest in this way. Everyone benefits."

Narrative and documentary short films created by college students in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky will be accepted this year.

As part of the collaboration with Freep Film Festival, all of the documentary films entered in the MovingMedia Student Film Festival are eligible for Freep Film Festival's Student Documentary Competition. A juried panel will choose the top ten, which will then be hosted for a public vote on the Freep Film Festival website. Finalists in both the narrative and documentary categories are slated to be screened on April 1 at the Detroit Institute of Arts.
