Job Opening: Basic Course Director

The Department of Communication is now accepting applications for an Assistant Professor and Basic Course Director. The position is full-time, tenure track, and begins August 17, 2017. Salary competitive and commensurate with experience. Duties include teaching the basic course and courses in other areas of specialization, as well as supervising GTAs and Part Time Faculty.

Minimum qualifications:

An earned doctorate in a communication field by August 17, 2017; the ability to work with diverse student populations across a department that includes a wide range of scholarly and professional expertise; and three years of experience teaching at the undergraduate level, related especially to the basic public speaking course. On-line teaching experience preferred.

In addition, we seek a scholar with background in some aspect of communication pedagogy, distance learning, instructional communication, or related fields, and additional interests in one or more of the following areas: intercultural communication, new media, mass communication, political communication, rhetorical criticism, health communication, communication theory, public relations, organizational communication, or interpersonal communication.

Candidates should also demonstrate excellence in classroom teaching at the undergraduate level, a research trajectory that points to national stature, and a willingness and ability to advise and teach graduate students, particularly at the doctoral level.
